It’s that time of year, when the major paint companies come out with their colour forecasts for the coming year and the pronounced trend for 2015 is bold.

Benjamin Moore has chosen Guilford Green, a stunning silvery green that complements both modern and traditional styles, as it’s 2015 colour of the year. Benjamin Moore also introduced Colour Trends 2015, a curated palette of 23 colours consisting of beautiful green, blue, blush and berry shades that can transform a space.

A grey-toned pastel green, such as Jade Frost by CIL, will be popular in 2015.

The Dulux 2015 colour palette is bursting with diverse, rich colours reminiscent of exotic global destinations. Dulux named Tropic Night, a vibrant, clean hue, as its colour of the year.

It seems that CIL agrees with Dulux, believing that 2015 is all about letting loose — at least in your homes. The trend in home decor is all about self expression, highlighted by a paint palette that is filled with colour combination possibilities for every taste, citing ocean blue as the standout colour of the year.

Sico is also on the bold bandwagon, believing that after years of playing it safe with neutrals, Canadians are demonstrating more confidence in their colour choices, which will translate into bolder, more expressive-looking homes in the year ahead.

Its top colour picks for 2015 include rich wood and terra cotta shades to deep slate, aqua blue, fruity red and vivid jewel tones. The 2015 colour palette by Sico paint is filled with bold, energetic hues from all colour families, with blues of all shades being a favourite in each group.

Although the Pantone Color Institute won’t be releasing it’s 2015 colour of the year until January, industry experts expect it to be Scuba Blue, which “evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and restores our sense of carefree playfulness,” according to the Pantone website.

Dulux Colour of the Year is Guilford Green Tropic Night by Dulux pairs well with a wide range of colours. The upbeat Tempo collection from Sico ranges from raspberry reds and golden yellows to turquoise blues and slate greys.
